Ryan is a young autistic man; he is full of fun and vitality and who enjoys nothing more than being out all day everyday – Ryan is very active!
Can you walk for miles to keep up with him?
Do you love being outdoors come rain or shine?
Do you have a wetsuit or paddle board? Would you like the opportunity to bring them to work with you?
Can you test Ryan on his passion for cars? Do you know your Audis from your Astras?
Ryan is also a very sociable young man who struggles at times with boundaries and needs consistency and patience to support his understanding that not everyone is his friend – shop staff and transport staff all know Ryan well and will often give a cheerful wave and tell him their names.
Ryan really enjoys the opportunity to travel by train or bus to various places each week – do you like this too?
Ryan attends a farm placement with his support staff twice weekly, do you have a shared love for pigs and lamas?
Ryan thrives on having structure and routine, knowing what he is doing each day and who he will see is very important to him. Planning with him and using various ways to communicate his week with him is vital.
Ryan sees the world around him as unpredictable and sometimes frightening. The team are still learning about the things that cause Ryan to be anxious and to understand and support any behaviours that cause him distress.
Ryan has an infectious personality and is building a busy week with his team. During the day Ryan is supported by 2 staff to ensure he is able to remain safe while accessing the community to get then best from his days
If you believe you can keep up with Ryan’s pasty eating, paddle boarding and train spotting days then this is
Desirable: you may have access to a vehicle with business cover for us to get out an about but if not you will be confident with using the local buses and trains
The working pattern opportunities to support Ryan would be (there may be flexibility within this):
Week 1: Tuesday 9-5 or 10-6, Wednesday 9-5, Thursday 8am-11pm with a sleep in, Friday 8-4 or 9-5. Weekend 9-5’s
Week 2: Mon/Tues/wed 9-5, Thursday 8am-11pm with a sleep in, Fri 8-4 or 9-5. Weekend 9-5’s

Salary: Starting at £10.80 - £11.00 per hour (with sleep-ins, there is the potential to earn £26,635 p/a)
