Our client, an established manufacture of car accessories based in Newquay are looking to recruit three twilight line leaders to join their team.

The role:

  • To be familiar with all operator duties on each filling line in production and to be a working member of the team responsible for the running of a line including Raw material replenishment, filling, capping, labelling, packing, movement of filled product to despatch and to manage the team on the line.
  • To organise a team on the production line to achieve the levels on the production plan and to be accountable for the output of the lines and then to assist in recovery plan when targets are not achieved.
  • To assist in changeovers and to be responsible for certain machinery adjustments during the running of the line to improve machine uptime.
  • To be aware of and take initial responsibility for the safety of your team members working on the line and to practise a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness at, and around the filling lines and understand the importance of appearance and safe operating condition of the equipment and machinery.
  • To be accountable for the quality of product by completing first off and set up check sheets, regular check weighing, routine sampling, and examination of production in accordance with quality procedures.
  • To monitor and identify the degree of competence in safety and quality of the team members and to provide support and training when required.
  • Completion of documents to support the above quality and safety routines.
  • To assist in continual monitoring and improvement projects by providing factual data and feedback online efficiencies by completing appropriate records such as OEE, H&S, Control plans, machine capability data etc.
  • To take responsibility for the time keeping and discipline of the operatives assigned to the line. Either by talking to the person concerned and then making a note of incident or for more serious disciplinary issues reporting the nature of the issue to either the shift supervisor or the production manager for further action.
  • Take responsibility to ensure the line is safe and that operatives working within the team abide by the published safety directives.
  • Clearing down lines at the end of runs and changeovers and to include stock reconciliations.
  • To contribute to the sites cost down targets by looking for opportunities to change working practices and improve line processes.

Requirements

  • Will ideally have a minimum of two years’ experience as a production operative.
  • Must be hard working and good at keeping to deadlines.
  • Must be able to lead a small team.
  • Aptitude for supervision and leading by example is a key characteristic.
  • Must have a good knowledge of key health and safety aspects.
  • Must have safety boots.
  • Must be able to drive and have access to your own vehicle. 

You must be physically capable of moving, loading, and packing various weights of products and ideally you would have a background in handling/mixing chemicals BUT this is not essential.
