Location: Helford River Sailing Club
Overlooking some of the best sailing waters in England, The Helford River Sailing Club provides an extensive sailing and social calendar and is set in a glorious location.
The restaurant has up to 55 covers inside plus a spectacular large balcony offering alfresco dining with exceptional views. You will be someone with a real passion for food who enjoys working in a fun and spirited environment.
You will provide lunch, dinner, bar snacks and the occasional breakfast to our members, guests and visiting yachts, ensuring the smooth running of all aspects of the kitchen during our busy summer season.
Our members enjoy quality traditional dining, including fresh fish/shellfish, salads and steaks on an evening out, but there is also an element of quick and tasty classic pub snacks to satisfy sailors straight off the water. Being able to adapt to both these demands is a must please.
You will be encouraged to share ideas and concepts as if it were your own business and consult with the club treasurer to understand and maximise your transparent profit share arrangement. You will be responsible for organising kitchen staff rotas, training and development.
Full time contract.
£12 per hour

The option to rent a large two bedroom, part furnished flat with spectacular views of the Helford River with a small riverside garden £330 per month.
Main Purpose of Job:
To ensure the smooth running of all aspects of the kitchen. The restaurant will serve lunch, dinner, bar snacks and the occasional breakfast to our members and visiting yachts. Duties and Responsibilities Will include.
Preparing the food ready for service
Ordering and control of ingredients
Working to the budgeted gross profit (GP) where possible, giving attention to minimising waste
Assisting with kitchen staff recruitment
Responsibility for kitchen staff training and development
Responsibility for kitchen staff rotas and time management
Driving the HRSC ethos of great customer service
Compliance with food safety, H&S, HR compliance
Be an enthusiastic, dynamic and qualified Head Chef who takes pride in what you do and is ready for a new challenge.
Be hardworking and proficient in producing menus and new dishes.
Have a proven track record of running a professional kitchen.
Have a commercial awareness and be able to consult with the club treasurer to understand and maximise your transparent profit share arrangement.
Have good communication skills.
Be well presented and professional.
Have a flexible, “Can Do!” approach to work and be a team player.
Have experience of building, motivating and developing a team to get the best results.
Enjoy a good working relationship with the Bar and Front of House Manager.
Have the ability, to work under pressure.
Hold full valid Health & Safety.
Hold a full and valid driving licence as own transport is essential.
Ideally hold a level three food hygiene certificate or above.
Be confident in completing full risk assessments for the day to day running of the kitchen and additional catering events when required.
Be competent in the latest allergy regulations and have the ability to train other staff where necessary.
To be familiar with the Councils ‘Safer Food Better Business pack’ and be able to update daily and be accountable for its completion.
