Right now, we have a fantastic opportunity for a confident and enthusiastic Food & Beverage Team Leader, to assist with the management and coordination of our passionate and friendly team at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary!

The SEA LIFE Trust is a registered charity working globally to protect the world’s oceans and the amazing marine life that lives within them. Our vision is of a world where our oceans are healthy, properly protected, and full of diverse life.

Here at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary which has been at its current site since 1975, we drive excellence in our overall visitor experience and ensure every guest has an amazing day with us. We’re also lucky enough to be situated on the banks of the Helford River in Cornwall.

About the role

On a typical day (if you can call it that) you will be working in the thick of the action, in the Café, Donut Delight and the BBQ food & beverage units, whilst ensuring that first class service is being delivered and profits are being maximised.

You will help supervise a team of hosts with a ‘hands on approach’; actively ensuring high standards of guest care is maintained by them. Outstanding customer service will come naturally to you, as well as the ability to lead by example whilst creating a motivational team environment. You will assist with performance management of the team and enforce Health & Safety policies, procedures, and cleaning standards.

You will also help to ensure that the department standards are met and all orders are made and delivered within specified timescales and budgets to ensure the units are fully stocked, being able to solve problems whilst keeping your 'cool' on a hot day.

This role is a permanent, full time role and given the 7 day nature of the visitor attraction, there will be regular weekend and bank holiday working on a roster basis, so you’ll need to be flexible with regards to working days and hours.

About You

Previous experience of leading a team in a catering environment is essential and our ideal candidate will have strong communication skills coupled with bags of enthusiasm and energy. Level 3 – Supervising Food Safety in Catering is desirable but an alternative qualification and/or solid experience in catering will be considered. You will also need the ability to 'think on your feet' and take ownership of any problems or minor complaints that may rise.

You will need to be a role model for the team, leading by example. You will enjoy working to a high standard within a busy and often pressurised environment whilst engaging in conversation and interacting with our guests in an open and genuine manner. Naturally, you are a reliable and customer focused team player and will take pride in ensuring that you are consistently delivering a service that goes above and beyond.

Why join us?

When you join us, you’ll receive an hourly rate of £8.98, and whilst you will be employed by The SEA LIFE Trust and not Merlin Entertainments directly, you’ll still get your flippers on a Merlin Magic Pass - giving you free tickets to Merlin’s attractions across the GLOBE!
