Engineering Manager in Newquay

Job Role
Principally responsible for managing a small team of mechanical and electrical engineers.
Working closely with Plant Management and in particular the Quality and HS&E Managers to ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant QHSE standards and legislation.
Prioritising and planning both short and long-term engineering projects in support of the wider business operational objectives.
Together with Plant Management, identify and support production efficiency gains, ensuring machine uptime is maximised through a combination of TPM and effective breakdown resolution.
Working with Plant Management to ensure engineering resources are used effectively.
Mentor/coach staff as necessary and identify any training and development needs in-line with the wider business objectives.
Responsible for the engagement & control of all contractors working on site.
Requirements
Must have a ‘hands on’ team-based approach and a ‘can do’ attitude.
Must be familiar with working in a high hazard chemical manufacturing environment.
Ability to provide strong leadership and support to engineering, production, and line-
setting teams.
Ability to plan and lead change management initiatives particularly relating to
engineering-based projects.
Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
General management skills and integrative, critical thinker.
Ability to deliver results in a complex environment managing conflicting goals.
Innovative, solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
Skills
Broad experience of managing engineering teams, specifically in manufacturing environments.
Continuous improvement mindset is a must and lean/Six Sigma experience desirable.
Experience in the consumer products industry is desirable.
Formal engineering qualifications required, preferably in both mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines.
