Our client, a charity supporting people with learning difficulties, mental health issues, and autism, in the community, are seeking a temporary Bookkeeper to support the Cornwall area by working in partnership with both internal and external colleagues to ensure the area finances are maintained in accordance with the organisation’s policies, procedures and financial regulations.

This role is based in their Threemilestone office initially, with possibility to work from home after handover & training is provided.

Responsibilities include:

  • Service Returns
  • Agency staff hours reconciliations
  • Processing procurement invoices, gaining authorisation and submission for payment
  • Petty Cash Returns, processed monthly
  • Cheque returns, processed monthly
  • Completion of monthly Procurement card returns
  • Processing invoices – ensuring they are reconciled, coded correctly, authorised, cheques sent, and cheque return updated
  • Statement reconciliation
  • Completing staff expenses claims & mileage claims
  • Completing monthly payroll data
  • Completing re-charge invoices
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Income returns
  • Overseeing and monitor PWS personal money accounts
  • Covering other areas of the office as required
  • Carrying out banking duties
  • To raise bank mandates and order cheque books
  • Managing signatories on Bank mandates
  • Liaising with Head Office finance to raise new direct debits.
  • Archiving of finance records, both for services and Area office
  • Providing support and Training to Team Managers and lead support workers in regard to financial matters, accounting and value for money
  • Review profit and loss transaction listings and advise managers accordingly
  • Ensure stationary and financial documents and forms are updated 
  • To be responsible for purchase orders
  • Reconciliation of sales and purchase ledger documentation
  • Updating cross-charges
  • Be involved and lead on projects which are commensurate with the post and undertake other duties which fall within the job holders capabilities allied to normal duties that your line manager may reasonably request

Software & Systems:

  • Managing iTrent processes and reports within the monthly payroll period
  • Ensuring that all financial reporting and systems are maintained and that there are clear audit trail processes for all processes
  • Assisting in the completion of quarterly reports for the council
  • Maintain and update database systems to ensure accurate records and report accordingly
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills required
